DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
- Bachelors degree program is for four to five years.
- Masters degree program is for two to three years.
- Doctoral program is covered for three to four years.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE MEXT JAPANESE GOVERNMENT INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 2023/2024
- Applicant must not be a Japanese National.
- Applicant must be a national of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
- Applicant must be born on or after 2 April 1985.
- Applicant must be medically fit.
- Doctoral program applicants must have obtained a masters degree.
- Masters program applicant must have obtained a bachelors degree.
- Bachelors degree applicant must have completed 12 years of foundational school in a country other than Japan.

PRIVILEGES, PERKS AND BENEFITS OF THE MEXT JAPANESE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship program covers 100% expenses of the Embassy recommended applicants for the duration of the study. They include but not limited to:
- Tuition fee is 100% covered by the Program.
- Monthly regional research allowance.
- Monthly stipends of up to 242,000 Japanese yen depending on the degree level and field or course of study and the scholarship budget.

ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENT FOR THE MEXT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
- The MEXT Scholarship application form to be either downloaded from the official website of the Japanese Embassy or Consulate of your home country or collected from the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
- Highest degree certificate of the applicant according to the level of degree and study being applied for an must be verified with the official stamp of the institution where the certificate was obtained.
- Highest degree Transcript of the applicant according to the level of degree and study being applied for and must be verified with the official stamp of the institution where the transcript was obtained.
NOTE: If the Transcript and certificate is not in English language, a notarized copy of a translation in English is mandatory.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE MEXT JAPANESE INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP 2023/2024
The Japanese Government Scholarship can be applied for through two distinct methods. Firstly, applicants can submit their application to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), accompanied by a recommendation letter from a Japanese embassy or other Japanese diplomatic mission in their home country.
