The school experience is more than just academics. It is also about discovering new interests, making friends and learning valuable life skills. Joining clubs and societies in school can help students achieve all of these things and more. However, in recent years, the number of students participating in these extracurricular activities has decreased. This article will discuss the importance of reviving the activities of clubs and societies in schools.
Firstly, clubs and societies provide a platform for students to explore their interests beyond academics. Students can join a club or society based on their hobbies, talents or passion. For instance, a student interested in photography can join the photography club, while a student who loves music can join the music club. Being part of a club or society allows students to meet like-minded individuals, share ideas and broaden their knowledge. By participating in these activities, students can discover their hidden talents and develop skills that can be useful in their future careers.
Secondly, clubs and societies help students develop social skills and build friendships. Students who join clubs and societies are often exposed to a diverse group of people. This helps them to learn how to interact with others who have different backgrounds or personalities. Being part of a club or society also gives students a sense of belonging and community. They can make new friends, share experiences and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Thirdly, participating in clubs and societies can help students develop important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and time management. Clubs and societies often have officers and leaders who are responsible for organizing activities, managing resources and leading meetings. By taking on these roles, students can improve their leadership skills and learn how to work effectively as a team. They can also learn how to manage their time and prioritize tasks, which is an essential skill for success in any field.
Lastly, being part of a club or society can help students stand out when applying for college or jobs. Colleges and employers are often interested in applicants who have demonstrated leadership skills, teamwork and a commitment to extracurricular activities. By participating in clubs and societies, students can showcase their skills and experience, which can give them an advantage over other applicants.
In conclusion, reviving the activities of clubs and societies in schools is crucial for the overall development of students. These extracurricular activities provide a platform for students to explore their interests, develop social skills, build friendships, and acquire important life skills. It is important for schools to encourage students to participate in clubs and societies and provide the necessary resources and support to make these activities successful. By doing so, schools can create a vibrant and engaging environment that will benefit students both academically and personally.

2023 INTER-SCHOOL SPORT FESTIVAL
As the school sports prefect, I am pleased to present a report on the recent inter-house sports competition held in our school. The competition took place on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2023, and it was an outstanding event filled with excitement and impressive displays of athletic prowess.
The event brought together students from all classes and houses, with each house fielding their best athletes in different sporting disciplines such as football, basketball, volleyball, track and field events, and many others. The houses that competed were Blue, Red, Yellow, and Green. Each house had been preparing for the competition for weeks, with training sessions held regularly to ensure that the athletes were in peak physical condition.
The first day of the competition began with a march past, where each house showcased their best drill displays. It was an excellent display of teamwork, coordination, and discipline, with each house putting in their best efforts. After the march past, the competition commenced with the track and field events. The events were keenly contested, with athletes from each house pushing themselves to the limit to win their respective races.
On the second day, the other sporting disciplines took center stage. The basketball, football, and volleyball games were highly competitive, with each house striving to emerge victorious. The spectators were treated to an impressive display of skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship from the competing teams.
In the end, the Yellow House emerged as the overall winners of the competition, closely followed by the Green House, with Red and Blue houses coming third and fourth respectively. It was an intense competition, and every house put up an excellent performance, but the Yellow House displayed exceptional skill and teamwork throughout the event.
Aside from the athletics competition, the event was also an opportunity to foster camaraderie and friendly competition among the students. It provided a platform for students to interact with each other, build new friendships, and learn important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
In conclusion, the inter-house sports competition was a huge success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and school management. It was an unforgettable experience that left lasting memories in the minds of everyone who participated or attended the event. As the school sports prefect, I am proud of the efforts put in by every house, and I believe that this event has set the tone for future sporting competitions in our school.

Once upon a time in a small village nestled among rolling green hills, there lived a young girl named Lily. Lily came from a humble family, and they worked hard each day to make ends meet. They grew vegetables in their small garden and took part in the local market to sell what they could.
One particularly difficult year, a severe drought swept across the land, leaving the villagers with dwindling harvests. Lily’s family, like many others, struggled to feed themselves. With each passing day, their pantry grew emptier, and their hope for a bountiful harvest faded.
One afternoon, as Lily was walking through the village, she heard a commotion coming from the town square. Curiosity piqued, she followed the sound and found a weary traveler sitting on a bench, surrounded by villagers. His name was Mr. Simmons, a merchant who had traveled from a distant city.
Intrigued by his presence, Lily approached Mr. Simmons and asked about his journey. He explained that he had come to the village to share his stock of bread with the community. It turned out that he had heard about the villagers’ struggles and wanted to help in whatever way he could.
The villagers gathered eagerly around Mr. Simmons as he distributed the loaves of bread. However, as he began handing them out, the crowd realized that there weren’t enough loaves to feed everyone. The disappointment was palpable, and some villagers left in despair.
Lily’s heart sank too, for she knew how desperately her family needed food. Yet she couldn’t help but notice that despite the limited supply, there were still a few loaves left untouched. She plucked up the courage and approached Mr. Simmons, explaining her family’s dire situation.
Moved by her sincerity, Mr. Simmons smiled kindly and said, “Lily, I can see how much this means to you. I can spare half a loaf for your family. While it may not be enough to satisfy your hunger completely, it’s still better than having nothing at all.”
Grateful for his generosity, Lily returned home with half a loaf of bread. She shared the news with her family, and though they were hungry, their spirits lifted. Together, they sat around the table, savoring each bite of the nourishing bread, thankful for the small blessing they had received.
The next day, as Lily walked through the village, she noticed a remarkable sight. The villagers who had left the previous day with empty hands were now sharing slices of bread with one another. Inspired by Lily’s determination and Mr. Simmons’ act of kindness, they had realized that half a loaf was indeed better than none.
Word spread quickly through the village, and the communal spirit grew stronger. Families began to pool their resources and share whatever they could spare, whether it was a handful of vegetables or a cup of rice. They discovered that by working together, they could overcome their hardships and create a sense of abundance, even in the face of scarcity.
As time went on, the drought eventually ended, and the village returned to prosperity. But the lesson they had learned during those challenging days stayed with them forever. They understood that the true value of a half loaf was not just in the sustenance it provided but in the unity and compassion it inspired.
And so, the saying “half a loaf is better than none” became a cherished phrase in the village, a reminder that even when faced with limited resources, a little generosity and a shared spirit could turn scarcity into abundance
